Secret BMX racer - Iwan Thomas

Iwan Thomas is best known for being arguably the greatest 400m runner Great Britain has ever seen. He’s got European and Commonwealth athletics titles, an Olympic Silver medal and the British record to his name but the former British Olympic athlete has a secret former life - as a BMX racer!
Iwan travelled the world on BMX, including to his first World BMX Championships in Florida, 1987, but a few too many crashes saw him turn to athletics! In this video we see him recapture his childhood as he gets back on his BMX bike at Gosport BMX track.

About the Event
The UCI BMX World Championships is the biggest annual prize in BMX racing with the worlds best riders chasing the right to wear the coveted rainbow stripes for the following 12 months. The event is also the last event in which nations can secure valuable qualification points as they strive to earn their place at the London Olympics in 2012. The event takes place in the Birmingham's NIA between 24th and 27th May 2012.
